Auburn Parks and Recreation installs AEDs at local parks, playgrounds

January 09 2025

AUBURN, Ala.- Auburn Parks and Recreation recently installed automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at several parks and playgrounds to enhance safety for patrons and visitors. The AEDs are now available at key locations throughout the City, including the Town Creek Inclusive Playground, Margie Piper Bailey Athletic Fields, Samford Pickleball and Tennis Courts, Kiesel Park and Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

This initiative is part of Auburn Parks and Recreation's ongoing commitment to providing safe, recreational spaces for the community. Sudden cardiac arrest is a national public health crisis that affects 1,000 people a day and strikes all ages. The installation of AEDs ensures that in the event of a medical emergency, immediate access to life-saving equipment is available to help save lives.

“Adding these outdoor AEDs to some of our most popular parks is an important step towards saving a life and keeping our residents safe,” said Alison Hall, Auburn Parks and Recreation director. “Throughout the next several years, we will continue to add accessible AEDs in our outdoor areas with high foot traffic and add coverage throughout our parks and facilities network.”
